Fix/Enhancement: Updates the iChannel download mechanism so that it works as follows:

1. When HP MediaSmart TV (MSTV) launches, MSTV asks the TVAgent to download provider.xml and all channellist.xml.

2. When an XML file is downloaded, TVAgent records the time of the download.

3. For the same XML file, TVAgent checks to determine if this file was downloaded more than 12 hours ago. If not, TVAgent will re-download it. If yes,TVAgent will do nothing.

4. When the user enters the iChannel folder, MSTV asks TVAgent to download the necessary thumbnails in that folder. Thumbnails in the sub-folder do not download in this case.

5. For the same thumbnail (PreviewPath is the same), TVAgent does not re-download the file.

6. When MSTV is closed, MSTV asks TVAgent to stop downloading. (TVAgent finishes the current ongoing task, and then stops until MSTV is alive again.) TVAgent does not download anything when MSTV is not running.

One Response to HP Media Smart TV – Digital media receiver, streams or syncs media

  1. Joe Bellows says:

I have an HP SL4782N HDTV. Its been running on a XP Pro laptop for several years now. However, there is no Win 7 upgrade for the extender which only upgrades through Vista and Windows Media Center 11. I have a new Win7 x64 desktop that partially works with Windows Media Center 12. Since I have an XP laptop on the network, the TV extender allows conection of my Win 7 system. However, no addins like Netflix, Internet TV or other goodies are available. The TV functions with with Win 7 with the same functionality available for XP but no Mediasmart from the Win 7 PC. I still have to use my XP laptop.

Frankly, I think the music and file directory structure available in Mediasmart is superior to those in Win Media Center. Is there any software out there that will connect my TV with Win 7? None ot the Vista HP upgrades available will install on Win 7. Is HP connect an option? Comments?

I would be willing to try installing drivers manually, registry edits etc. to get something to work. Thanks.
